The highest mountain in the Sesto Dolomites, the Dreischusterspitze (3,145 m), is rarely visited. The ascents are too long and too strenuous - in other words, a lot of effort and hardly any rewarding climbing. In addition, the "Schuster" (as the locals call it) is not exactly characterised by solid rock. This is true for the entire, huge mountain range between the Innerfeld and Fischlein valleys - after all, the largest in the Sextner! So the brightly shimmering pinnacles and towers remain beautiful backdrops for most. One exception is the Schusterplatte (2,957 m), which has a neatly marked, only moderately difficult ascent. However, the path to the summit is also long; those who find the 1,500 metres of altitude gain too much can spend the night at the Drei-Zinnen-Hütte. From the church in Moos, take the bus to the large car park in the Fischleintal valley (1,454 m), almost level, over the only lightly wooded Fischleinboden to the Talschlusshütte hut (1,526 m), then climbing westwards into the Altensteinertal valley. At the fork in the trail (1,631 m) straight ahead. To the left, the north faces of Einser (2,698 m) and Oberbachernspitze (2,677 m) rise into the sky, in the valley background the bizarre rock profiles of Paternkofel ( 2,774 m) and Toblinger Knoten (2,617 m) appear above the Bödenalpe. Over a striking terrain step you gain the height of the Bödenalpe. Now do not turn left to the Drei-Zinnen-Hütte, but - following the tracks - up over the stony meadows into the hollow of the Innichriedl (2,381 m; sign). Keep to the right onto a grassy ridge and on the other side down into the Innichbacher Graben. The marked trail quickly gains height, partly in a zigzag. A rock step is overcome surprisingly easily (I); continue uphill into the scree cirque below the Altensteiner Scharte (2,790 m). Here turn left into a gully, up through it, but before it ends turn left onto a ledge (I). Finally, an easy climb to the spacious, gently ascending summit plateau (many stone markers). Descent on the ascent path.
