Hochbrunnerschneide" (3,061m); one of the easiest of the higher Dolomite peaks, also for the less experienced. View over the surrounding Dolomite groups of great beauty, "the High Belvedere of the Sesto Dolomites". - History of the first ascent: first ascent by M. Holzmann with Santo Siorpaes in 1874; first descent through the North Ice Gorge (falsely called East Face!) by Oscar Schuster with H. Moser on 8 July 1893; Northeast Face by G. and M. Mayer with Angelo Dibona, Luigi Rizzi and Ignaz Schranzhofer on 26 August 1911". So much for the "Hochtourist" of 1929, in which the "easy" normal route is also described. At that time, a real glacier must have been embedded in the inner hole - all that remains of it is a meagre snowfield. Instead, there is now plenty of scree along the path to the ridge ...... From the church in Moos, take the bus to the large car park in the Fischleintal valley (1,454 m) and follow the well-trodden path through the Bachern valley to the Zsigmondy hut (2,224 m). On a clear scree trail below the north precipices of the Zwölfer (3,094 m) diagonally uphill to the occasionally dry Eissee lake (2,326 m) and over the starting point of the Hochleist ridge to the mouth of the Innere Loch. Here, follow a clear path (cairns) uphill into the rocky cirque until the tracks on the left lead to a wide gully. The little path is only partially preserved here, which is why it is better to bypass the lower part of the gully to the right over the snow field (up to the iron bar). Afterwards, there are another 200 metres of altitude to climb on fairly mobile ground until you reach the rocks. Go up via ledges to a narrow gully and on its left edge in easy climbing (I) up to easier terrain. Now zigzag to the ridge, where a fascinating deep view into Vallon Popera opens up. To the right over the broad north ridge, without difficulty, to the extensive summit area of the Hochbrunnerschneid (3,046 m) and to the great panorama. Descent only via the ascent path!
