Difficulty and general information
Easy and short via ferrata on the Monte Piano. The whole route leads trough a historically area.

Starting point
We go by car to Dobbiaco. There we turn left in the direction of Cortina (Höhlenstein Valley) and to the Hotel „Drei Zinnen-Blick. There is a big parking place were way no. 6 starts.

Ascent
From the parking place we follow the way into the Rienz Valley. We turn right after about 300m and follow the way number 6. We cross the Rienz-River and we reach the foot of Monte Piano, where we follow the curvy way uphill (indication “Monte Piano or “Pioniersteig”- nr. 6). Above the little cemetery of the soldiers we reach the crossing to the via ferrata. We go on until the sign “Klettersteig”.

Descent
From the top of Monte Piano we follow a good signed way (number 3 and 6) over the plateau until a way-crossing. We follow the way number 6a to “Forcella dei Castrade” and go down over the path number 6a to the valley. We go on, on way number 6a going out of the valley, passing the Dürren-Lake to the starting point.
